okes beautifully and tastes amazing. The room note is so good you'd wish the sold it as a bottled fragrance. Compliments from everybody around me. It does remind me of the LOTR trilogy (and the Hobbit). If I could afford one of the Auenland churchwardens, my life would be complete. Just kidding, there's more important things than that, but it would help. But seriously, this is a VERY good aromatic mix for the aromatic lover. I'd put this right up there with Russ Oulette's Snow Drift tobacco. It's not sold on here, but it's good...really good. Hopefully, we might see that on here someday! Read Less

y. A lot like Petersons blends, in terms of both taste and behavior. Personally I didn’t detect any tongue bite but I think it’ll be better to smoke this tobacco slowly. Provides with a cool and slow smoke, almost minty. Moisture content is pretty good ( not damp, neither too dry).
Room note is great ( I might be subjective but it really is good as described by my Wife). Reminds me of W. O Larsens signature blend and Petersons Christmas blend ( but Auenland is better. The other two are more sour and tend to bite).
Pretty good tobacco but nothing extraordinary or super amazing. I’m still glad that I gave it a try.
Best things about this tobacco: it’s middle earth themed, tin is pretty cool, tin note and room note are amazing… after opening the tin the whole room will smell wonderfully. Read Less

Taste is mild to medium and moderately consistent, with notes of semi-sweet tart peaches, sugar, tangy orange, zesty citrus peels, acidic, bitter wood, earth, a mild stone fruit background note, and a peppery retro. Nice presentation and intense aromas at the opening of the tin. Very pleasant smoke with aromatic and creamy flavors, but not invasive. The smell in the room was very nice. For a morning or relaxed smoke, it can work very well.

y moist so it packed and smoked great. Only reason I didn’t rate higher was the flavor didn’t transfer as well to the smoke as I expected. I’m a newb so maybe this is to be expected for tobacco that isn’t dripping with added flavors. Either way, it was a nice smoke that I’ll be revisiting often I’m sure. Given it is mild in its sweetness and noted flavors I think it’s a must try and setting the bar high for future blends. Read Less

in the bowl after a fifteen minute dry time. I've even left some out overnight to dry completely and found that it enhances the taste and aroma. It commands a price that rests below the premium tins so for some that might be a dealbreaker but if you get a chance to try this blend you will see why. Read Less

ts of cocoa, mild citrus, and a very mild floral note. So, definitely, inoffensively “fruity”.
The burning note is Jahre: I think this is the non-celebratory version of that, and I am happy, because I like the prune-y fragrance of Jahre. I will get some tins of this for my cellar. Read Less

y artificial character sometimes associated to aromatic tobacco. I can see the cherries others mentioned, but it's more profound than that. Some nuttiness, a small vanilla note, both most notable in the room after simply opening and closing the tin. Overall, yes, it's sweet, but in a way like ripe tart fruit, there's an acidity here that gives this blend "air and stage". Out of the tin, I would say it was the right moisture. Smoking this stuff is an absolute pleasure, start to finish. I smoked it in small pinches, small shallow bowl. It left a nice ash and didn't gum up my pipe (small reside maybe?). It's a light smoker overall, no heavier say than Peterson's Sweet Kilarney. At a broad stroke, it's perhaps close to Larsen's Signature Series - Vintage Mixture. But, still, this is a whole different ball game. You don't smoke that Vintage Mixture and think "I'm in Lord of the Rings." No, The Shire makes you think you might be Merry and Pippin, striking it rich on Longbottom Leaf.
Post Tin Review: I have to say, while it's fun to know I have a spare tin, I'm ok with sitting on it. The last of what I got is good. However, like most aromatics, it's a little much on the regular. That being said, I still had tons of wows and oous from my friends about this one. It's definitely one to try. Read Less

If you enjoy aromatics this one is definitely a must try. The peach and orange are such a great change of pace from the normal vanilla / chocolate / cherry / etc. that most aromatics have. Great with a cold drink while enjoying a nice warm day.

I honestly always thought the Shire Tobaccos of Tolkiens mind would be natural or even english mixtures. In this German interpretation they are not. To bad. But that aside I have to admit it is a good aromatic tobacco.
