About This Pipe
The '69' shape is Peterson's most classically iconic bent billiard shape. By Peterson's standards, it's also a remarkably English inspired shape. We sometimes forget that Peterson really has a fundamentally different aesthetic from the English manufacturers. Whereas the English manufacturers fed upon each other aesthetically, Peterson really did maintain a distinctive aesthetic that has continued until today: evidently that little body of water known as the Irish Sea did separate them some from what took place in England. So, while Peterson's shapes are certainly akin to those from the London manufacturers, there are fundamental differences. All of that said, the '69' shape is more like bent billiards we would have seen from Dunhill or Barling or Sasieni than most Peterson shapes, with their heavy, very ruggedly masculine lines and big, thick shanks.
