About This Pipe
Though Chris Asteriou counts the classical English style as his main influence, I can't help but suspect that he'd been eyeing some old Sixten Ivarsson shapes when he drew up the idea for this Zulu. While the shank, transition, and heel are all meatier and firmer than Ivarsson's own iconic examples of this shape, this Asteriou number does sport a similar trimmer, taller, and more supple look when compared to a straight-up English version. In short, it stands as a happy medium between the classical English and the classic Ivarsson renditions - and one that is, quite frankly, beautifully executed.
