Smooth Lumberman Tobacco Pipe

Adam Davidson's ability to deconstruct every nuance of the pipe making process is uncanny. From the way a pipe maker stains his briar, to the method by which he cuts a stem, Adam Davidson has an opinion; an informed opinion that is usually far more in depth than one might conceive. Adam is one of the most particular, meticulous, and critical people I've ever known. And he takes all of that fastidiousness and consciousness into his pipe making. The result are works at the top most tier of quality and excellence and precision. When Adam spends five hours in his shop obsessing over the "perfect" stem, how could one expect otherwise?

This Lumberman conveys every sign of Adam's endless fascination with flawlessness. Concisely set to the shape, a beautiful, regular cross grain covers the slightly beveled rim, allowing a mix of flame and straight grain to run down the left and right flanks of the piece in a remarkably even fashion. Adam, who is quite vocally a fan of the Lovat, has here chosen to represent those lines with in this Lumberman shape, having tapered down from the bowl transition an elegant, sleek oval shank that settles quite properly into a comfortable saddle stem.

It's a splendidly lovely piece; balanced, modest, and most importantly of the superlative quality that has come to represent everything Adam Davidson produces.
