About This Pipe
Though he doesn't produce them often, this Almond design is distinctively Adam's own. It's a curious number, appearing like a compact pocket-pipe or nosewarmer at a distance, yet proving to be of quite a good size once you take a closer look. And then, when in hand, it presents a feel that is, rather than stout and massive, downright sleek, not to mention natural. Though sharing the same kind of appreciation for smooth, clean form and a minimalist use of line that you tend to see in the works of skilled Danish artisans, stylistically this is the kind of shape that speaks more to Adam's background as an American educated in Industrial Design. Rather than the soft, relaxed Danish Modern influence found in the compositions of Scandinavian pipe makers, this flame-grained number looks like it was shape-tested in a wind-tunnel, what with its dashing profile, pronounced leading edge, and shaved-down cross-section that leaves the impression that this pipe was meant to cut through the air at high velocity just as much as it was meant to combust with the pleasing ease of plumes of smooth, relaxing smoke.
