i everybody, I'm Alan Britt from Smokingpipes and today we're going to talk about cigar caps. There are quite a few across the board and they can definitely be a bit intimidating when it comes to cutting them, so we'll talk about those today.

Single, Double, or Triple Cigar Caps

So the most common cap is going to be either a single cap or a triple cap. Double caps happen from time to time but they're not quite as common. These two cigars can be cut a multitude of ways: a straight cut, V-cut, or a punch. It's really your choice.

Torpedo Cigar Caps

Next up, we've got the Torpedo cap. Torpedoes are one of my favorites for a couple of reasons. Typically, it takes the most skill to roll a Torpedo, so the chances of getting a dud are slim to none; some of the most skilled rollers roll these. It also allows you to choose your own draw. If you cut a little bit closer to the tip, you can have a tighter draw. If you light it and it's a little too tight, cut a little bit further down and that'll open up the draw a bit.

Pigtail Cigar Caps

We've also got the Pigtail. You see these quite a few different ways. Sometimes it's a coil, sometimes it's a single cap, and sometimes it has a flag. There's a few different ones and a few different ways you can cut these. You can simply cut as usual or you can just rip this right off.

Specialty Cigar Caps

Last but not least, we've got a couple of specialty caps to talk about. The Chisel from La Flor Dominicana (LFD) is one that you really only see on LFD cigars. They're pretty unique. You can either cut these straight or, if you're lucky, sometimes you can just pop this thing right off and get a perfect draw. You've also got the Flat cap. It's super common on the Neanderthal from RoMa Craft. Most people, including myself, prefer to just punch this. You can also use a razor blade if you want to just cut this off super thin. Either one should give you a great draw.

These are some of the most common caps on cigars. Drop a comment below and let us know what your favorite is.
