ello everyone, I am Tyler Caldwell, and for the masses out there who do not know anything about me, I have been in the retail side of this industry for a little over 10 years. And within that time, I've been told a lot of stories and I've been asked a ton of questions. And one of the most common questions I get is when a person comes into the retail store: they want to get a gift for someone who likes to enjoy a fine cigar and they have no idea what they're doing.

Today I'm going to give you my top three suggestions for the person in that situation.

On the Lighter Side: Joya de Nicaragua Clasico Original

Normally in these situations, I like to recommend something more on the medium side, 'cause that way you're not getting something too strong, not getting something too light, especially if you have no idea what you're getting anyway, right?

So my number one suggestion for something a little bit more on the lighter side is the Joya de Nicaragua Clasico Original. What I like about it is it's smooth, it's mild, it's creamy, and it's got a nice baking spice profile to it. It's great with a cup of coffee, and also great with a lighter, sweeter bourbon. Just great in all aspects right there.

Excellent Medium Cigar: My Father Flor de Las Antillas

My next option that I like to recommend to people is the Flor de Las Antillas by My Father. I believe this was Cigar of the Year in 2012, and ever since it's been a number one hit for them. Also, what I like about this is that, to me, this is the perfect medium cigar. Nothing too powerful, smack dab in the middle, affording great flavor, great construction, and it's always been a success for those I've given it to.

A Humidor Classic: Padrón 3000

My final suggestion is a humidor classic: the Padrón 3000, particularly the Maduro. I've always found that people like the Maduro with Padrón a tad bit more, but certainly do not be afraid to try their Natural. To me, it's just as good. But this is another great cigar with a San Andrés Maduro wrapper. You get a nice chocolate espresso kind of flavor profile, and another great medium body selection. The great thing about it is that Padrón is a brand that everyone has heard of. So if you're giving this to someone who likes cigars and you know nothing about them, they're going to thank you for that one.
