Sutliff - Barbados Plantation 1.5oz
Not great
Very wet out of the jar, so wet, I could not keep lit and ended up only smoking for maybe 5 min, flavor was good but mostly hot sweet air, maybe would be better if it stayed lit?

Hearth & Home - First Snow 1.75oz
Absolute treasure
What a treat! Nutty, sweet, maybe slightly bready and honey, and the slightest hint of balsam. Probably the driest I've rubbed but smoked cool and burned really well. This was fantastic!

G. L. Pease - Piccadilly 2oz
Good for all day
Very good, like some kind of savory food, a slightly olive flavor with hints of coffee and subtle woody notes, mild and burns perfectly, was able to fully smoke on first light, easy to keep lit and burns cool.

E. Hoffman Company - Spilman Mixture 2.5oz
Pretty ok
Felt a little moist so allowed to air dry 10min, mild and pleasant English with most flavor coming toward end of smoke, overall not bad and not "noteworthy", certainly capable of being a daily smoker. Definitely tasted the anise, pleasant and enjoyable but definitely mild.

Cornell & Diehl - Professor 2oz
Not a fan
Moist out of the tin, smoked VERY hot and burned tongue for two days, flavor was ok English middle of the road but frequent relights and hot smoke made this initially unenjoyable; second go around was about the same, burnt tongue, but slightly better flavor.

Cornell & Diehl - Orient Express 2oz
Mild and strange
Mild English, slightly pleasant latex taste but hard to nail down, definitely sour, easy to smoke too hot so need to go slow. Not bad but not a go-to.

Cornell & Diehl - Bijou 2oz
Really enjoyable
Light and sweet, can't really taste the Orientals forward, but they're kind of residual, mild and tasty, burns well and seems easy to keep lit, not bad all around.

Mac Baren - HH Latakia Flake 1.75oz
Burned hot
Need to retry this one; burned very hot, Burley seems to give it a cigarette flavor, was pretty moist and needs dried for sure, burnt way too hot, good campfire, flavors of wood, wasn't great though.

Mac Baren - HH Balkan Blend 1.75oz
Good blend
Great smoke, mild flavor, alot like Crowning Achievement, burned REALLY hot but smoke was ok, definitely enjoyed it.

G. L. Pease - Spark Plug 2oz
A real classic
Real challenge to keep lit, frequent relights, but flavor was great, thinking I didn't pull apart the plug very well leading to poor consistency and hot spots, still really good and need to try again, flavor was leather, incense, petrol, smoke, citrus, probably one of the better smokes if kept lit.

Cornell & Diehl - Byzantium 2oz
Better than bad!
Take your time on this one. Perique was definitely present giving an intensely peppery flavor throughout the whole smoke, some Latakia and Orientals coming through but not enough to enjoy. Definitely a dirty peppery flavor mixed with a bitter black coffee, orange and juniper berry gin flavor, not getting much of the Orientals sour or the smokey, but they are there way in the background. Toward the middle and end, transformed into a big nicotine bang Balkan, nice and rich and sour! but much more promising if time is taken! Go Slow!

Peter Stokkebye - PS52 Proper English
Pick a good pipe
Wanted to like it and perhaps it was just the Peterson's Dracula I was using, required frequent relights and smoked hot, flavor similar to Nightcap but maybe slightly less cigarette, still pretty disappointed; change of pipe proved a much better smoke, very enjoyable mild English, smooth enough for all day, but rich enough for one off.

Peter Stokkebye - PS306 English Oriental Supreme
Decent English
Basic English flavor, pretty decent, smokes a little hot and the burley makes it a little gross, otherwise pretty typical, not necessarily a favorite but could be a go to in a pinch, burned well and lit easily, if it wasn't for the burley would have a good English or Balkan flavor.

Peter Stokkebye - PS17 English Luxury
Probably not my go to
Mild to start with a slight sour and smoky from the Latakia, still mild halfway through but then started to want to go out, relight was harsh and remaining 1/3 to 1/2 of the bowl was hot and harsh smoke. Overall, not bad, if I can maintain the light, this is a good mild smoke to have a non-English person try out, otherwise, not necessarily a go-to for me; funny that after multiple smokes from multiple pipes, same results, this could be worse, but it's not very good.

Newminster - No.400 Superior Navy Flake
Maybe I'm doing it wrong
Mild sweet baked goods give way to caramel and hay, probably based on heat, great smoke, tasted great, need to be vigilante about keeping lit without freight training and does want to go out here and there but not too challenging; third or fourth smoke, if not more, and have been less and less impressed with each try, this smokes as hot as a furnace and loves to go out, guessing it's too wet, good brown sugar flavor but entire experience is fighting the burn and bite.

Newminster - No.306 English Orient
Great English
Good sour smoky flavor, definitely oriental forward, good English flavor that was relatively full bodied, easy to light and smoked cool, probably would be very good in a less challenging pipe, even relights were ok without too much bite, overall good reliable smoke.

Mac Baren - HH Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed
My favorite smoke
Mild fruit, cinnamon, smoked woods, pleasant smoke; subsequent smokes proved same as first with addition of crusty baked bread; probably my favorite tobacco so far.

Lane Limited - 1-Q
Boring, avoid
Very light aromatic with something like a vanilla nut flavor, an almost cotton candy sweetness flavor. Definitely not bad but frequent relights which brought on bite and eventually could not relight with over 1/4 bowl left, definitely not relaxing or a go to.

Kramer's - New Mix
Good for everyday
Good straight forward English mix, this is the kind of thing you'd buy in bulk and smoke regularly, burned pretty well and stayed lit until about 1/3 remained, relights weren't too bad.

Kramer's - Father Dempsey
Middle of the road
Tried to start this but left packed bowl for 2 days, so hard to tell on dryness. Good middle of the road English with great smokiness and sour notes, cool burn with only one relight, this is "good" not "great" due to relight, which had bitter flavor for a while after.

Kramer's - Blend for Cary Grant
Basically an English
More or less a standard English but a hint of sweetness early on. Can't put my finger on the exact topping, but it's mild and pleasant. About halfway through the bowl, had to relight and got an interesting blue cheese taste that was really pleasant, too. In any case, this should be treated as an English.

F & K - Black Bayou Mist
Burns hot, tastes good
Great out of the gate, good body with the dark fired, good sour and smoky, lots of flavor, hot burning.

Cornell & Diehl - Virginia Gentleman
Big Nic
Mild and smooth flavor throughout, although relights made burley burn, still a satisfying smoke with good sweet flavor, nic hit was high at end of bowl and hit me quick and hard.

Cornell & Diehl - Stratfordshire
Great and strong
Great smoke albeit imperfect. Satisfying English flavor with plenty of body, enjoyed very much and could have turned another bowl immediately, only one relight but probably due to poor packing, definite go-to smoke.

Cornell & Diehl - Bayou Morning
Strong dud
Light peppery, cigarette flavor even when smoked cool. Constantly monitor so it won't go out, three relights, doddle left over and couldn't relight, only ok at best, NOTE: huge nic blast AFTER I stopped smoking, none during?

Arango - Balkan Supreme
Best Balkan yet
Probably the best Balkan blend yet. Full bodied flavor, burns really well, almost tastes like some kind of food, really satisfying and pleasant smoke, normal hints of sour and woody and maybe a little incense, great blend.

Tampers & Tools - Tobacco Pipe Wind Cap
Pretty good!
Doesn't fit my bigger bowls, but fits most. Good idea in windy, dry places. Glad I have it!

Sutliff - Revelation Match
Ok I guess, but not a regular for me
Says it's a ribbon, but...strange kinda ribbon cut. Super easy to load this, easy to light, stays lit well with no relights, the flavor is very mild to a point where it's strange for an English to be so weak, not complaining but almost the kind of "hot air" you expect from Sutliff aromatics, this is an "all day smoker" I imagine, there's just no bite and no problem with too much flavor or nicotine, most of the flavor seems to be from the Latakia/Kentucky parts, but there are subtle burley tastes with very light almost unnoticable traces of perique and virginia.

Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
Really great Virginia
Little bit of caramel, little bit of baked good, started to hinge closer to hay and spice, not a bad smoke overall, burned relatively cool in poker pipe, took my time and enjoyed it.

Mac Baren - Virginia No. 1
Great Virginia
Raisins and subtle baked flavor, maybe some sweetness but due to heat it's hard to say, found my stem was plugged for much of the smoke but when I finally was able to blow it out, smoked even hotter with nic hit, overall not bad. Charring light was a heavy honey, really good, started flowery like a meadow, lots of sweetness, much more a deep honey, much less baked goods.

F & K - Lancer Ready Rubbed
Best bulk out there
Campfire and hay, very English flavor, easy to light, easy burning, great smoke - very much like Bengal Slices but not identical; really just a pleasure. Cool smoke, a floral campfire with musty cinnamon (less cinnamon toast, more spicy), perfect for a rainy summer day. Long, cool, dry smoke and excellent flavor.

Hearth & Home - WhiteKnight 1.75oz
Staple smoke
Very pleasant, cool burning, great balance of flavors, stays lit, pleasant all around, great smoke. Definitely worth getting again, mild, smooth English.

Lighters - Peterson Silver Stripe Pipe Lighter
Oozes class
An old favorite, reliable and classy. I'm primarily a pipe smoker and I appreciate the easy, soft flame. Switched from a pipe zippo to this, and I'll never look back.

Peter Stokkebye - PS402 Luxury Twist Flake
Fantastic Virginia bulk
Nose is good in jar. Bready, little caramel. I find myself craving this flake. This must be handled with the correct cadence and in a poker pipe, when done correctly there is no cigarette taste and the sweetness is almost aromatic, there are caramels and creams, and overall it's about as pleasant a smoke as you can have - but it's very important that you take it easy!

Cornell & Diehl - Visions of Celephaïs 2oz
Tastes like a fancy peanut butter and jelly
Chocolate and wine, fruity, high nictotine; really enjoyable, good flavor when smoked with care, not too hard to keep lit. After multiple smokes from multiple pipes, this is now my go to aro for when I want a little bang.

Cornell & Diehl - Nutty Irishman 2oz
#1 Best aromatic
Toffee, caramel, chocolate ice cream, mild and tasty smoke, very good!

Cornell & Diehl - Autumn Evening 2oz
Great aromatic
Mild and sweet, maple flavor that travels through the whole smoke, pleasant and good.

Cornell & Diehl - Super Balkan 2oz
Good, strong, every day smoke
Allowed 10min dry time as was a little springy, great smooth Balkan flavor, sour and spiced, nothing is overwhelming, seems like an absolutely excellent blend of Latakia and Orientals, can still pick up a background of rich nuttiness from the Burley and a very slight fruit from the Perique, not tasting the Virginias but probably helps to age. This could easily be an everyday smoke and maybe a favorite, also, had to work at it, but there is an eventual nic hit, but it's more or less at the end and pleasant.

Captain Earle's - Private Stock 2oz
Luxurious
Salt water, wood, petrol, evergreen, good easy smoke, like a sea water English blend campfire. Best smoked while thinking and focusing, not during tasks; probably one of my favorites, quite rich and luxurious.

Seattle Pipe Club - Wild Man 2oz
Phenomenal
Easy to light, easy to keep lit, phenomenal taste, barbecue smell in the tin is very pleasing, sour, spicy, slight wood and the smallest hint of perfume, like a wisp, this is like something that makes you think of snowy holidays. Smoked the whole tin quick - need more! This is the kind of smoke you're looking for when you're feeling wild!

G. L. Pease - Haddo's Delight 2oz
A unique one, lots of Perique
A good one, dry out and smoke slow, good strong flavor.

Cornell & Diehl - Miskatonic Mixture 2oz
Strange Virginia
Not bad at all, interesting mix, definitely worth another try. Smokes well, easy to light and stay lit. It's got a strange Virginia flavor, pretty high but gradual nic.

Cornell & Diehl - Mad Fiddler Flake 2oz
What a great nose!
Has such an amazing, strong aromatic smell of fruit - like a fermented jam - that the nose and beginning notes are almost as mouth watering as anything you could want, some cellaring helped this one, slightly taming the wetness, good to smoke slow, still burns hot with some bite but was good and sweet throughout, very much like an aromatic English but richer, and denser.

Cornell & Diehl - Junkyard Dawg 2oz
Good and juicy
Really nice, full flavored blend. Flavors of wood and incense, with a little nuttiness; creamy nuttiness rises midway through the bowl. The incense could be broken down into a sort of harsh, peppery sweetness. Smokes a little wet. Be careful on an empty stomach with this, nearly knocked me out toward the end of my first smoke. I dare say this is worthy of a big jar for regular smoking.

Cornell & Diehl - Innsmouth 2oz
Could have been worse?
Light and smooth, taste of bread and hay, smoked hot toward the end but half of the smoke wasn't bad

Cornell & Diehl - Awakened Elder 2oz
Like a musty library
Dank, old and pleasant, a contemplative smoke. Woody, musty, strong English, slight nic hit around the halfway point, overall nice change of pace.
