Yeti: Natural Sandblasted Tomato with Bakelite (928) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-660-0211
Montana-based carver Micah Cryder is the mind behind Yeti pipes, his propensity for whimsical design cues evident throughout his body of work. With Cryder's affinity for contrast, colorful bakelite is a favored material throughout his work, pairing vibrant and reserved tones to create striking palettes. Additionally, many of his pipes display a Danish influence in their gestural lines and supple curves, all while incorporating his own creative sensibilities, with this Tomato thoroughly illustrating his unique style. Squat and low-lying in its disposition, this Tomato possesses a palpable sense of dynamism throughout, the bowl's walls flaring broadly from the sweeping heel toward the plump, inflated rim. Juxtaposed against the bowl's soft curves is a broad, faceted shank, whose crisp ridgelines emerge from the bowl and curl upward to meet a subtly downturned saddle stem, the arrangement gently guiding the eye to the front, urging the composition forward. Fashioned from bakelite, the stem's swirling cream and mocha hues offer a handsome complement to the stummel, whose warm, earthy complexion is defined by a natural sandblast that reveals rippling growth rings wrapping around the bowl and calcified birdseye along the top and underside.
