Byron: 19th Century Grand Poemas Cigars

Product Number: 007-965-0009

The original Lord Byron brand was launched in 1848 by Jose and Eusebio Alfonso, a pair of cousins who opened a small factory in Santiago de Las Vegas, a municipality of Havana, Cuba. The brand's name pays tribute to the eponymous English poet and routine smoker, whose work has been hailed for centuries as some of Romantic literature's best. The brand's introduction was met with success, but, in the 1930s after the onset of the Great Depression, they were forced to close. In 1998, the great-great-great-grandson of one of the original founders, Nelson Alfonso, revived the brand as Byron Cigars, its current iteration. Part of the Century series, Lord Byron's core line of cigars, the 19th Century is a medium-bodied cigar that boasts a complex flavor profile and an elegant presentation. Blend-wise, the 19th Century features an Ecuadorian Shadegrown wrapper over an undisclosed binder and a filler combination of Nicaraguan, Peruvian, and undisclosed tobacco. This Grand Poemas vitola is part of a special release from the line, a limited-edition run of 7,500 cigars that boast an additional five years of aging. These cigars are presented in a unique box that doubles as a humidor, with a built-in thermometer, hygrometer, and a space for a humidifier.
