Mystery Review: March 2024

Welcome to another captivating installment of Mystery Review, a monthly series in which our panel of experts attempts to identify a mysterious tobacco deliberately submitted to stump them. This month's inquisitor is Tyler Caldwell, who has sat on the panel for Mystery Cigar Reviews and works as our Junior Cigar Specialist here. Will his selection for this month baffle new panelist Steve Mawby, as well as Alan, Shane, and me, or will we accurately identify the blend? Join us as we discuss the mixture and make our guesses, with the grand reveal from Tyler at the end where we discover whether we were lucky this month and correctly identified his submission or if another episode will end with us humiliated and humbled.

What is The Mystery Tobacco Review?

For those unfamiliar with this little game, each month one member of our team — or sometimes an honored guest inquisitor — selects a tobacco or cigar for us to review in a blind taste test. Then we gather around the camera, scratch our heads, and smoke, all while attempting to guess the mysterious submission, its manufacturer, and, if we're lucky, its name. There's only one rule: There are no rules.

    • This was hands down my favorite video so far. I like the jovial, light atmosphere; it's genuinely entertaining. I think about some of the most popular Whiskey channels on youtube like Whisky Tribe/Whisky Vault and they are popular because they're funny and insightful - I think you guys are really hitting your stride. Thanks for the entertainment, appreciate that you do this. I can see smokingpipes partnering with LCA in the future to put out a cigar monthly offering of "Ribs for Breakfast" and "Overnight Oats for Dessert". Thx

    • I agree. It's nice having you all in the same room, and I like the room.

    • All of you guys who have posted are right: this is a great episode. The horsing around was as insightful as the technical discussion. ("Ribs for Breakfast" forever!)Also, the setting is perfect. The shelves of tins and jars make a great backdrop. It feels like we have been allowed to drop into the brick and mortar store after hours. Well done, gentlemen! Bravo!

    • Never commented before, but the theme to the animated Robin Hood is literally constantly in my head too! How strange.

    • The video is very interesting, but it's a bit regrettable that I can't taste it in China
