Cigars of the Week: June 2024

Summer is in full swing and between the busy schedule of friendly BBQs, hitting the pool, and lounging in the sun, it's important to cool off in the evening with a quality cigar and an ice-cold drink. Every week on our Instagram (Cigarsatsmokingpipes), we choose a cigar of the week to make picking your summer smoke a little easier. Here's our recommendations for June.

Black Label Trading Co.'s: Orthodox

Our first cigar of the week for June is Black Label Trading Co.'s Orthodox, which — contrary to its name — is quite unorthodox. Orthodox boasts a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Ecuadorian Habano binder and fillers from Nicaragua and is made by Fábrica Oveja Negra in Nicaragua. Orthodox stands above the crowd as a bold, full-bodied smoke that represents the heart of Nicaraguan tobacco with notes of spice that are balanced by elements of dark fruits, cherries, and raisins, and finishes with star anise. Red Anchor: Admiral

Get ready to set sail with our second cigar of the week: Red Anchor Admiral. Serving as a revival of a classic 1770 cigar brand, this modern iteration continues a 200-year-long legacy. This 6" x 52 cigar boasts an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper over a Dominican Monte Plata binder and a filler blend of Dominican San Vicente, Dominican Habano '92, and Pennsylvanian leaf. A medium-bodied smoke, this cigar showcases a complex flavor profile with notes of cocoa, espresso, leather, and cedar. Like an irresistible melody, our third cigar of the week is bound to be a repeat favorite. Wildfire Cigar Company's The Hook is the second offering of a three-part series of blends modeled after the structure of a rock 'n' roll song. Blended at the Fábrica Centroamericana de Tabaco in Danlí, Honduras, The Hook is a 6" x 46 stick that consists of a Dominican Habano wrapper, an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed binder, and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and the United States. The Hook is rich with notes of creamed coffee, cracked black and red pepper, aged oak, and a faint tickle of wildflowers. The Hook is available as both a single stick or in boxes of 10, on-site now.

Santa Muerte is the folk personification of death, often associated with healing, protection, and financial well-being. Our final cigar of the week for June commemorates both Santa Muerte and Day of the Dead: Black Label Trading Company's Santa Muerte Petite Lancero. Originally released on Friday, October 13th, 2016, this 6.5" x 42 petite Lancero offers a foundation of Nicaraguan, Dominican, and Mexican San Andrés leaf with an Ecuadorian Habano binder and wrapper, resulting in a cigar packed with the dynamic flavors of coffee, malt, and spice.
