LONECOYOTE
About Me:
I'm a male and smoking a pipe for over 50 years!!!!

Amphora - Burley 1.75oz
A MUST try for Burley Lovers
This is not your ordinary pouch Burley blend. As stated prior I was amazed of the amount of high quality broken Flake . Just the right amount of Virginia to add sweetness. You’ll definitely pick up that nuttiness and cocoa note you expect from a good Burley!! I’m really enjoying this new Amphora release!!! Give a pouch a try, won’t be your last.

Sir Walter Raleigh - Aromatic 1.5oz
Attention Aro-Lovers
I was never a fan of the original SWR, however if your looking for an excellent non-goopy aromatic this is a blend I highly recommend.....especially for new pipe smokers! You won’t be disappointed!!!

Esoterica - Penzance 2oz
So.....PLEASE READ... 4.5 Stars for the YEAR 1991
The hype “ What’s it all about Alfie “! Earlier in the day I had a bowl of Penzance Circa 2014 and what I smoked was just OKAY! Took 3 re-lights and light tamps, but once lit, stayed lit. It burned extremely slow with allot of cool woodsy smoke and some floral notes with nothing much more to say about this super hyped blend. Just now finished a bowl of Penzance Circa 1991....WOW....the Penzance I truly remembered. The 1991 smoked outstanding after 2 lights and light tamping, stayed lit to the end. The smoke was extremely woodsy from what must be a higher grade Latakia used back then. You were able to pick up some sweetness in the background from the Virginia and the spice was on the spot from the Orientals in the 1991 blend. For both smokes I used the same pipe....a LaStrada Pot style nosewarmer with a wide chamber. My conclusion....the 2014 Penzance I would rate @ 2.5 Stars and the 1991 Penzance a true 4.5 Star blend. Was it the aging that made ALL the difference or in time has the quality of tobacco’s used after the year 2000 changed that drastically?!?!?! I must add I’ve smoked Penzance 2001-2005 & 2008-2014....all were just what I would consider an okay smoke. Nothing I would truly go back to!

Lane Limited - La Gloria Cubana 1.75oz
Virginia’s........
Not so much. What you do get is a rich smooth Cyprian Latakia tobacco and high quality Oriental leaf to make for a smooth......very smokey blend. Will not bite if pushed. Don’t think I would consider this a true English blend but it’s a blend I really enjoy. I was lucky enough to purchase 10 tins from a B&M that closed their doors 2 years ago....all for $50.00!!! My lucky day for sure! UPDATE: Smokes best with more complexity if this blend is smoked on the dry side. Maybe it’s my Ph levels but I much prefer my blends on the dry side. Less moisture........less hot steam to burn one’s tongue.

Cult - Blood Red Moon 50g
Sweet chocolate.....
Cherry pie best describes this “ CULT “ blend. Has a natural cherry taste without the bite, the high quality Cavendish makes this blend a cool smooth smoke. There is NO other cherry blend tobacco on the market today that has this rich complex smooth smoke. I’ve yet to smoke a “ CULT “ blend that I have not truly enjoyed. Definitely a collectors blend and one I highly recommend trying. A superb after dinner dessert treat!!!

Savinelli - 140th Anniversary 100g
WOW.....
An extremely smooth creamy smoke!!! An excellent blend of high quality tobacco’s. You will appreciate this blend much more if it’s aged for a year or you air dry a bowl full for roughly an hour before packing your pipe.....eliminates tongue bite and smokes much more complex. This is one of the finest aromatics I’ve smoked in my 50 years of pipe smoking bliss!!!

Cult - Profile 50g
I was amazed....UPDATED 5/31/2018.....READ...
By how well the Virginia’s and Black Cavendish tobacco’s were blended together so well to give a smooth smoke without any bite even when pushed a bit. In the background there is a hint of vanilla. I’m glad I was able to get my hands on a few more tins before it sold out. If your a Cavendish lover this is a blend you must try!!! UPDATE: I was informed earlier today that this blend is no longer available and it’s already a collectible. So, if by chance you come across a tin or 2 by all means....BUY. I paid $5.00 a tin from a B&M that closed his doors last year and earlier today I was offered $40.00 per tin. Of course I did not sell, but made an outstanding gift to a pipe smoking friend. GOOD LUCK!!!

Mac Baren - HH Burley Flake 3.5oz
Good Burley Flake.....
But far from the much superior Solani ABF. NOT TO SAY .....this Burley flake won’t get better with at least 2 years of aging. Smoked fresh you will enjoy a slightly sweet nuttiness you expect from a good burley but lacks the complexity of ABF. All of the hype sold this blend out fast. Once it returns I will buy a few tins for aging and will update my review in 2020. Its a 3.5 STAR tobacco, which once aged will be above a 4 Star tobacco.

Lane Limited - Ready Rubbed 1.5oz
Nothing like the original..
But well worth the price for a decent Burley smoke. Arrives a bit moist for my liking, so if you find it gives you a bite do what I do with overly moist tobacco’s. This blend required a full 4 days of air drying. Absolutely no bite and this also brought out the nuttiness of the Burley. The cocoa is WAY in the background of this blend but you do get that sweetness you’d expect from the Burley tobacco. It’s a 3 STAR blend.

Mixture No. 79 - Mixture No. 79 1.5oz
OMG
Without a doubt this is one of the most horrendous blends I’ve ever smoked and I’m smoking a pipe for almost 50 years!!!

Cornell & Diehl - Bijou 2oz
Just opened
A replacement tin, original had serious mold. This tin is aged just over a year and I was told the mold issue was supposedly rectified but obviously NOT! This tin too has a significant amount of mold. Looks like I will hold off purchasing any blends from C&D for quite a while.

Balkan Sasieni - Balkan Sasieni 50g
Nothing like .....
The original. Seems to have a chemical after taste. Not even close to the original blend. Definitely will not be ordering more!!

Mac Baren - HH Vintage Syrian 3.5oz
My FAVORITE......its a FIVE star.....
Syrian Latakia blend without a doubt. This is a perfectly balanced blend and only the best Syrian Latakia is used to create this smooth smoking tobacco. Let air dry for about an hour before stuffing your pipe, eliminates any chance of tongue bite. This blend smokes smooth with more complexity if aged over one year and on the dryer side. This is a FIVE star Lat blend!!! A MUST try if your a fan of Latakia blends.

Lane Limited - Andullo 1.75oz
A hidden Gem!!!
If you are/were a cigar smoker this is a blend you MUST try. Burns cool and smooth even if pushed. The combination of this blend is spot on! You get a sweet....woodsy....slight leathery enjoyable smoke, and this blend will give you plenty of clouds of smoke! I keep a number of tins in the cellar and will be ordering more before it’s gone for good. I HIGHLY recommend you trying a tin, won’t be your last. Burns dry with no dottle to a fine ash with few re-lights. I also agree with GrandpaBillB.....this is a fine cigar smoke in a pipe, definitely FIVE STARS. For some reason it would NOT let me give this blend FIVE STARS...believe me it deserves it. UPDATE: after smoking 10 bowls of Andullo in briars, Meers and better Cobs I can honestly state there is not even a hint of vanilla, just a very slight flavor and aroma of anise.....which does not over power this quality blend. Just the right amount of Cavendish was used to keep it a cool smoking blend and the Latakia gives that smokey...woodsy sweet taste blended with the Cavendish. The fermented cigar leaf brings this blend together to give you an extremely enjoyable smoking pleasure. The tin I’m about to finish is from February of 2016, so this blend does not require much aging. It really is a cigar smokers dream that’s enjoyed in a pipe. I personally find this blend smokes best with an hour or two of air drying in a small try. Definitely makes this blend more complex.

Cornell & Diehl - Red Odessa
My favorite C&D....
Bulk blend. You want smokey....you got it. You want flavor....you got it. Very sweet tasting blend that can be an all day smoke. No bite even when pushed. This is a blend you will be buying by the pound once you give it a try. Now go ahead and treat yourself to a blend of tobacco bliss!!!

Peter Stokkebye - PS403 Luxury Bullseye Flake
BEST WITH.....
At least 2 years of aging, makes a BIG difference. When rubbed out well you will get a mild hay like taste in the background. What’s straight up front is a sweet stewed fruit and brown sugar taste. This is a tobacco you’ll definitely be keeping in your cellar for aging. This is my favorite PS tobacco. Highly recommended.

McClelland - Collector: Tudor Castle 50g
My favorite McC Blend
I too find this fine blend smokes best in a narrow chambered pipe made from Algerian briar. You can sit back and sip and enjoy the complexity of this superb blend. If you have a tendency of smoking a hot pipe like I do at times, this blend can be pushed with no tongue bite! This blend is good smoked fresh but with 5 plus years of aging this blend might become your favorite blend. Yes, it still has that ketchup/vinegar smell but plays no role in the superb flavor of this blend. A TRUE 5 STAR BLEND!!!

Amphora - Special Reserve Black Cavendish 1.75oz
If your a Cavendish lover....
This blend you’ll enjoy! All I can say is give this a try. Absolutely no bite if pushed. Takes a few re-lights if moist. This Amphora blend smokes best if air dried for about 45 minutes. The burley nuttiness is there but for me no citrus. Needs a bit of aging to bring out more of the citrus. Definitely worth trying a pouch. I just ordered 2 more from Smokingpipes.

Amphora - Original Blend 1.75oz
IT’s close, but read......
Definitely a bit more burley forward than the original. But the Virginia is in the background with a bit of the hay taste you would expect. Here’s what to do if you smoke it fresh...put the amount you want to smoke in a small dish or tray and air dry for at least 45 minutes. Makes a BIG difference!! Also I noticed by taking ALL of the tobacco out of the pouch and mixing well in a dish or tray and jar for 6 months will bring back some fond memories. Not quite the original but as close as one would expect. Give a pouch a try, you won’t be disappointed. After a full year of aging it will only get better!!!

Hearth & Home - Black House 1.75oz
It's a WOW!!!
Wow, this brought me back to the 70's when I often smoked Sobranie 759”. This H&H BlackHouse in my opinion is a sleeper blend which many pipe smokers are over looking! I could smoke this fine blend all day. No matter how I puff and push this fine tobacco, absolutely no bite whatsoever!! What a wonderful, pleasant blend to smoke now and age some for later. I HIGHLY recommend this fine tinned blend. It's a 5 STAR PLUS tobacco!!!

Rattray's - Bagpiper's Dream 100g
My favorite Rattray....
Tobacco, but I enjoy many Rattray blends. Bagpipers Dream is my favorite from the time I first open the tin/can. This wonderfully ribbon cut tobacco has just a touch of Cognac, not over powering these fine tobacco's. Very enjoyable smoke with absolutely no bite!! Easy to keep lit and very little moisture at the bottom of the bowl. Might need to air dry some in a tray for 30 to 60 minutes before packing your pipe, but well worth the wait. I highly recommend this fine blend!!!

G. L. Pease - Gaslight 2oz
A WOW moment
Just open the can and take a good sniff. Yup, this plug tastes as good as it smells. This blend has a deep rich flavor from the start. Make this blend the last pipe full for the night, just before bedtime. As I do with many other plugs/kakes is I cut slices and rub it out well on a small tray I use for tobacco. Just let it sit and air dry for about 30 minutes. Make ALL the difference!! Only one re-light with no moisture at the bottom of the bowl. Try some with your next tobacco order, you WILL be ordering more!!

G. L. Pease - Cumberland 2oz
Anytime Dessert
The complexity of this blend is simply fabulous! After a few puffs I got this woodsy spice and chocolate flavor. Burns slow with only one re-light. For me this is an anytime of day blend. Not to moist with very little dottle at the bottom of the bowl. Has an excellent room note, praised by those sitting near by. I highly recommend this ESPECIALLY IF YOUR A JACKKNIFE PLUG FAN!

Hearth & Home - WhiteKnight 1.75oz
Give this a try
This is a full flavored tobacco and a pleasant smoke. Not quite as strong as BlackHouse. If you can find this online I highly recommend this tobacco!! The Cyprian Latakia in this blend is outstanding.

Cornell & Diehl - Old Joe Krantz
Enjoyable smoke
This blend of mainly cube cut Burley and red Virginia and a splash of Perique makes for a great all day smoke. I smoked this blend fairly hot and NO tongue bite. Nice blend of tobacco's created this wonderful tasting smoke. I will be ordering more!!!

Cornell & Diehl - Cube Cut Burley
A MUST try for Burley lovers
This is an excellent Burley and will age well for a number of years. But very smokable fresh. This blend has a very " nutty " flavor and smokes extremely cool. If you tend to smoke a hot pipe this blend will NOT bite your tongue. I smoked it like a freight train and still NO bite! If your looking for that Burley with a creamy nutty flavor I highly recommend trying this blend. I always have some on hand.

Mac Baren - Cherry Ambrosia 3.5oz
Bad tongue bite
So bad of a bite I had too add some BCA. Only thing nice about this blend is the aroma. Will not purchase again! I've never given a tin tobacco one star!!!

Mac Baren - Dark Twist 3.5oz
Does not smoke....
Like a natural. How can you tell with so much topping!!! Will let age and try again in 3 years. Way too sticky to smoke now!!! It bites!

Germain - Plum Cake 50g
WTF
Way to wet and goopy to smoke when arrives. Bad tongue bite!!! Will not stay lit. Foul odor from the tin. Well, will give it a try again in 3 years, after aging.

Erinmore - Erinmore Flake 50g
A flake....
You could smoke all day. Stays lit and a medium smoke, enjoyable. You can smell the citrus in the tin and once lit it only gets better. This flake gets better with at least 6 months of aging. Smooth smoke without the bite from a flake. Highly recommended.

Lane Limited - BL/WB
An outstanding....
And pleasant all day smoke. This Burley gets better with at least 6 months of aging. I would consider this Burley too be on the light side and easy on the tongue even if you smoke your pipe like a freight train!!! I also do a 50/50 blend with BCA...outstanding smoke! Give some a try, you won't be disappointed.

Samuel Gawith - Full Virginia Flake 250g
The tin version.....
Is much better. If you can get your hands on some. This one arrives very wet. If you want to smoke this blend without aging, air dry in an open tray or glass bowl. This tobacco needs too be aged for a minimum of 6 months but a full year makes a big difference. When I lived in Europe this was my favorite Virginia in tin version.

Peter Stokkebye - PS52 Proper English
It's an ok....
English blend but definitely needs to be aged. This is a lighter smoking English tobacco. This blend has a nice aroma and with jarring some and let sit for another 6 months it gets much better!!! I can smell coffee and cocoa in this blend. Get yourself an ounce and try for yourself.

Peter Stokkebye - PS17 English Luxury
Very Good....
English blend. Like most English blends this tobacco is dry enough too smoke right away. Give an ounce a try, if you enjoy order at least 8oz. and age some for at least 6 months. It only gets BETTER!!! Burns well without the bite. This is one of my favorite English tobacco's.

G. L. Pease - Temple Bar 2oz
Definitely.....
Needs to be aged for at least another 6 months. A bit of a tongue bite and had too re-light a few times. Don't know what the hipe is on this blend. I'm not impressed. Will try again after I age mine!!!

Cornell & Diehl - Billy Budd 8oz
If your also.....
A cigar smoker then this blend is for you!!! A strong smoking tobacco, not for those faint at heart pipe smokers like mentioned in another review. This is definitely a night time tobacco. The nicotine in this blend will totally relax you, get up from your rocking chair slowly....lol. What's amazing, no tongue bite. I highly recommend Billy Budd.

Lane Limited - 1-Q
It's okay...
But has a tendency too make my mouth dry. If you find a similar issue give Lane TK-6 a try. This is a good everyday smoke but in my opinion TK-6 is a 5 star bulk tobacco!!!

Dunhill - Nightcap
Do not....
Compare this too the tin version. NO comparison!!! Much higher grade of tobacco is used in the tin version and a much better cut. I've had the same issue with Lane's bulk Medal of Valor. Let the tin version of Dunhill Night Cap breathe a while before smoking, just like a good Cabernet. The tin of Dunhill Night Cap is worth the price!

Dunhill - Nightcap 50g
Great night cap!!!
This September I will be smoking a pipe for 47 years. This Dunhill blend was always my favorite when I lived in Europe. Enjoy this blend at night and just relax. I also agree with a prior review: let this breathe for a while before smoking. Think of this blend of Dunhill as a fine Cabernet. The longer you age this blend the better it gets. I highly recommend.

Rattray's - Red Rapparee 100g
Enjoyable anytime!!!
Smooth smoking tobacco with no bite. My only suggestion with this Rattray's blend is to mix the tobacco well in a bowl before enjoying. Then store back in the can. For some reason my last 2 tins were not mixed very well. But, this is a very satisfying pipe tobacco!!!

Rattray's - 3 Noggins 100g
Great anytime tobacco
A nice full bodied pipe tobacco. Smooth smoke with no bite. Very nice room note. I've smoked this blend many times in the past and continue too this day!!! Never had a Rattray's tobacco I did not like. I highly recommend.

Peter Stokkebye - PS201 Black Cavendish
Excellent Black Cavendish
Superb Black Cavendish by itself but great too top off any Bullseye you smoke. I use this Cavendish in many of my own blends to create a smooth long lasting smoke without the bit. I highly recommend!!!

Newminster - No.9 Creamy Vanilla
Smokes nice by itself....
But mix this with Very Cherry and you have a wonderful smoke!!! Do a 50/50 blend and let age for at least 90 days. You can also add a touch of BCA and slow the burn time down a bit without any bite. ENJOY!!!

Rattray's - Westminster Abbey 100g
Just had my second pipe full
Very pleasant smoke from start to finish. I tried a sample and will definitely order a tin with my next shipment. Super aromatic with a superb aroma. I highly recommend.

Lane Limited - Dark Red
Very Nice!!!
A great Cavendish blend. I was sent a sample and I was extremely pleased with the aroma and how smooth this tobacco smoked with no bite. Very relaxing smoke and will be ordering some soon.

Newminster - No.47 Danish Black
Quality Cavendish
I smoke this often straight but also use this Cavendish in a few of my own blends. High quality Virginia is used to create this tobacco. Get a sample and try for yourself. I highly recommend!!! Smooth smoke from start to finish with no bite.

Newminster - No.23 Blackberry Brandy
Enjoyable smoke
The overall complexity of this blend is excellent. At times I smoke this blend straight but I also use this too make my own special blend. Get a sample and give it a try. Not to moist and goopy, you pipe smokers know what I mean. No tongue bite.

Newminster - No.3 Very Cherry
Nice smoke
Smokes smooth with no bite by itself. For my daily rotation I blend 75% Very Cherry to 25% BCA. Burns longer and adds a better complexity. Get a sample and give it a try.

Comoy's - Cask No.7
Great Bullseye
Smokes smooth with no bite. Good quality Virginias and the complexity of this blend is spot on!!! Stuff 2 of these into your next smoke. Ask for a sample, you will not be disappointed. I aged mine for 90 days before trying.

Newminster - No.400 Superior Navy Flake
The name says it all
Nice weekend treat for me. Excellent blend of tobacco's in this Navy Flafe. Ask for a sample, you won't be disappointed!!! Age it for at least 3 months and it gets better.

Lane Limited - BCA
Smooth smoke from start to finiish
Enjoyable from the start!!! I'm very much into black cavendish and have been for years. This is by far my favorite!!! Next time you order tobacco from Smokingpipes don't forget too ask for a sample. I also use BCA in some of my own blends. Burns slow with NO tongue bite, even if you smoke a hot pipe. ENJOY a bowl full soon.

Savinelli - Giubileo d'Oro 50g
My weekend treat
Smokes cool and smooth. This blend uses a high grade Latakia and you can smell just how good. NOT your average English blend either!!! Also excellent quality Virgina's in this flake. Well worth the price and I highly recommend. ENJOY!!! UPDATE: just smoked one full flake and a half. Great smooth smoke with NO bite what so ever for a full 1 hour and 9 minutes!!!! NO re-lighting of tobacco.

Low Country - Guendalose 2oz
Snake Bite!!!
Let me start off by saying: this September will be 47 years smoking a pipe. The good about this blend: spicy, like eating a good taco. The bad: burns to fast and caused a severe tongue bite. This blend is NOT for the inexperienced pipe smoker!!! Smoke this blend real slow. I actually had the hick-ups from my last smoke. I've also done my own blends for over 40 years, so I will be adding either a black cavendish or BCA to tone it down a bit. Before you purchase try a sample for yourself. Update: the reason why the bite, to much moisture in this blend. There is suppose to be no more then 13% moisture in tobacco. This blend was at 18%. My cure: I heated my oven to 200 degrees and put the open tin inside and shut the oven off. I removed the tin in 20 minutes and now this blend smokes perfect. I rate it now at " 4 " STARS. IVE BEEN MAKING A SIMILAR BLEND WITH CIGAR TOBACCO FOR MANY YEARS. ASK FOR A SAMPLE OF THIS BLEND AND TRY FOR YOURSELF.

Lane Limited - Medal of Valor 1.75oz
Worth the PRICE!!!
If your into English blends give this a try! DO NOT compare this too the bulk Medal of Valor, not even close. Much better grade Latakia is used in the tin version and a much better cut of the tobacco. I recently received the bulk version of this ( not purchased from Smokingpipes ) for Father's Day. Arrived totally dry! I know English blends are much dryer then aromatics or tobacco's with cask/toppings, but this bulk version when rubbed between my fingers turned into powder. The bulk version arrived finely chopped, not the same cut as the tin version. I'm in the process of rehydrating my Medal of Valor bulk. Medal of Vaor ( tin ) makes a great afternoon or evening smoke.

Lane Limited - Burley and Black
A MUST try for YOU!!!
Nice smooth smoke and burns slow. Age it for at least 90 days once you receive it. Now one of my 3 everyday tobacco's. Give some a try, you won't be disappointed.

Lane Limited - LL-7
Great smoke by itself...or
I also use LL-7 too create a few different mixtures!!! Try a mix of LL-7 50%, TK-6 25% and BCA 25%. Great tasting smooth smoke anytime of the day!!!

Mac Baren - HH Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed
Great night smoke by itself or
Also my special night mix....HH Old Dark Fired 50%, Peter Stokkebye Black Cavindish 25% and Newminster #23 Blackberry Brandy 25%. Mix well and let age for a minimum of 90 days. ALL my pipe friends really enjoy this night mix!!! I'm smoking a pipe now into my 47th year.

Lane Limited - TK-6
Okay by itself.....let age a bit longer
OR...Even better if you make your own mix....TK-6 50%, BCA 25% and LL-7 25%. Age together for a minimum of 30 days mixed well together. A great tasting smooth smoke!!!! Give it a try. I'm in my 47th year smoking a pipe. I've come up with a number of fabulous mixtures. Also I make a special night mix that I get many compliments when smoked.
