There are few shapes that so minimally connect the shank and bowl, yet this Acorn (we really couldn't think what to call it!), is a lovely example of a pipe carver thinking outside the box. The bowl and shank/stem elements could each stand on their own design principles, and the blending of the two is very elegant. Those who smoke too fast or moist tobaccos should be aware, though, as the airway is drilled down the shank and down the bowl to meet at a right angle, which could and will funnel moisture down from either side to cause excessive gurgle. If it does, though, just wick it up with a pipe cleaner from the stem side.
