About This Pipe
Peterson's 'XL02' is a particularly interesting shape. One doesn't normally think of the bent Apple as a masculine, rugged shape. Those sorts of descriptors are normally reserved for shapes like the Bulldog. Yet Peterson's version of this shape, with its big, tubular shank and large, rotund bowl, is certainly that. Paired with the rugged rusticated finish of the Donegal Rocky series and the saddle stem, this is very much the case with this particular piece. Yes, all of that is somewhat offset by the classy, elegant nickel band at the end of the shank, but that just helps it all to strike the right balance. A great pipe from one of the most remarkable pipe manufacturers in the world.
