Though somewhat more subdued in form than what we've become accustomed to seeing from Michal, this piece is no less exotic than what we've come to expect. The pipe's left side is elegant enough, however, it's the right side of the piece that's entirely fascinating. Its deep, drooping lip begins at the rim around two o'clock, and folds over the top of the shank before fusing into the stem. The characteristic is very stylish and brings a very strong sense of the organic to the work. It's also the kind of embellishment that's unique to this carver's work.
