7 New Pipes from Benni Jorgensen

7 New Pipes from Benni Jorgensen
Benni Jorgensen is a gifted artisan whose talents are so highly regarded, that the venerable firm of W.O. Larsen assigned Benni as the designated carver of their pinnacle grade; the Pearl. It's been almost three months since our last Jorgensen update but, as you will soon see, the briars have been well worth the wait. The Swan Grade represents Benni's best, and with tonight's presentation, Benni comes pretty close to the seventh line within the chorus of "The Twelve Days of Christmas." Tucked within tonight's seven fresh briars, we have "Six Swans a' swimming!" Five of the Swan Grades of the evening are sandblasted, all are fabulous, and (get this!) all are priced at just $340! The two smooth presentations include a smooth blowfish that's adorned with lacewood, and a savagely beautiful, Swan Grade dublin imbued with a generous amount of avant-garde attitude. Mr. Jorgensen is one carver that every collector should look into, better yet, own.

9 New Ardor Pipes

9 New Ardor Pipes
For months now, I've been talking about the huge strides that Ardor has been making in the advancement of their shaping; forward movement within an aesthetic that many already held to be amongst the most advanced within the business in the first place. While just my opinion, I believe that most every Ardor update of the past year (or so) has borne that declaration in a delightful manner. Well, to use the vernacular of yesteryear, "You ain't seen nothin' yet!" (Yeah, you know that Sykes will cringe when he reads that particular butchery of the Queen's English). Tonight's nine fresh Ardors are overwhelmingly sleek, lean toward clean, almost minimalist lines, and are generally sized in keeping with a Group 4-5 range (as opposed to Ardor's more common 5-ODA). My personal picks of this litter would have to include the two rakish, low profile Uranos, the Giove cutty/belge, and there's a Mercurio dublin that has me seriously considering making a pact with Beelzebub to acquire (her name is "Terri", my wife of 30+ years, and when it comes to negotiating a new pipe...trust me, I would rather sit across the table from Beelzebub).

9 New Il Duca Pipes

9 New Il Duca Pipes
We've only carried Il Duca pipes, made by Massimiliano Rimensi, for about 10 months now, but we were already floored by the sophistication of Max's aesthetic voice. The quality of his construction, and his finishing and engineering were evident before we left the floor of last year's Chicago pipe show. Apparently, many of you are in complete agreement with our assessment, for the Il Duca pipe took right off, has remained a steady seller for us since its introduction. Max draws on a wide variety of influences, ranging from Pesaro-school to Danish modern, and yet he does so with such skill, that his body of work isn't merely cohesive, each pipe is definitively his, and his alone. Further, Mr. Rimensi's affinity for incredible design isn't limited to briar, but is also on fine display with other woods; his superlative Morta pipes being a fine example. Tonight's Il Duca update consists of nine pipes, including a Barone DDD Grade Morta billiard, five superlative sandblasted models (for heaven's sake, don't miss the stunning Nautilus), a smooth Conte DD canadian, and a gorgeous Conte DDD bent apple, with bamboo.

9 New Pipes from Randy Wiley

9 New Pipes from Randy Wiley
Florida's favorite son, (and certainly one of our most popular carvers) is back, and the Tampa Tornado has 9 terrific new pipes to present. When one update boasts a grading range from a 33 Galleon, to a Grade 50 Patina, you know that you are in for one heck of a show. And when that range also displays a breadth in shaping that runs the gamut from acorns and apples, to sitters (both drunk and sober), to dublins and billiards, all the way to some of the most delightfully effusive freehands that one could wish for...well, the adjective "diverse" becomes something of an understatement. All of Randy's pipes are oil cured, handcrafted from start to finish, and boast a superior drilling and engineering. Once you factor in that Randy's pipes are nigh near untouchable in the pricing department, there's little mystery as to why the Wiley briar is perennially near the top of our best selling marques. Give one of Randy's pipes a test drive. I think that you will be so delighted that you won't even haggle for floor mats.

12 New IMP Meerschaum Pipes

12 New IMP Meerschaum Pipes
Tonight's dozen from IMP Meerschaum focuses on the more conservative shaping aesthetic...well, "conservative" as far as the term can apply to this most avant-garde of meerschaum carvers. There are elegant eggs, beautiful balls, delightful dublins, fabulous figurals, and even two of the finest tomatoes that I have ever been privileged to see executed in the "Queen of pipe materials." Whether you are fond of intricate lattice work, or prefer the deep, pearl-like translucence of a smooth surface, no matter if you welcome the flash provided by regal sterling silver, or like your pipes unadorned, this IMP update has something for most any meerschaum aficionado.

24 New Neerup Pipes

24 New Neerup Pipes
For the pipe enthusiast who favors Danish pipes that run to the affordable, but prefers that certain extra individuality that comes with an artist's personal attention, Neerup is always included among my first suggestions. Peder Jeppesen has a delightfully wide shape repertoire, one that ranges from a certain reverence towards classical Danish aesthetic, to pipes that show a stronger freehand influence. As a cool bonus, Peder's staining is some of the best in the business. Get ready for a treat, for tonight we have no fewer than 18 of "Peder's Perfect Pipes," and the selection is as delightfully broad as the pipes themselves are lovely. With prices starting at just $70, and none exceeding $120, this is one marque that truly deserves attention.

18 New Tsuge Pipes

18 New Tsuge Pipes
Tonight's Tsuge update of 18 pipes includes the utterly unstained Natural series, as well as both smooth and sandblasted briars from the Triangle line; one of the finest machine made series in all of creation, just one step removed from Tsuge's legendary Ikebana. A few short months ago, we had had hundreds (upon hundreds), of these gems in the building. Numbers of that size are just part of the territory that goes with making a one-shot, volume purchase. Another part of that territory, the ability to offer these top-tier pipes at savings that range up to 65% off of retail, also accounts for why a wall that once looked like a staging area for the Berlin air-lift, now looks rather lonely and vacant. Gents, in a perfect world, we'd love to be able to offer $200 sandblasts for $70, and unstained rusticated pipes that normally sell for $95 for $45, in perpetuity. Sadly, a one-shot buyout is just that...a one-shot buyout. Please grab some of these pipes while you can.

18 New Stanwell Pipes

18 New Stanwell Pipes
Stanwell, a company whose very name is synonymous with excellence in Danish pipe making offered at affordable prices, is with us again this eve, and the 18 fresh briars concentrates on the venerable firm's most popular lines. A half dozen new, fabulously grained Golden Danish are in the house, and they are accompanied by three Featherweights, three Colonials, four of the dazzling Varios, as well as a couple of representatives from the quietly elegant Majestic series. There are (literally) millions of Stanwells in regular rotation around the world, shouldn't there be at least a few more in yours?

72 New Estate Pipes

72 New Estate Pipes
The stadium is packed, and the fans are pumped, and it's time once again for the Smokingpipes.com blockbuster estate update; 72 fresh, pre-owned smoking instruments, collected from the top marques around the globe! Team Italy continues to show numerical dominance, with a full 26 offerings. Savinelli leads off with an unsmoked Collection Pipe from 1985, and an unsmoked Autograph 00 Grade. We have Ardors, Caminettos, Ser Jacopo and Castello, on Ascorti, on Radice, on Viprati and Jacono! (sorry, for a second there I thought it was Christmas). England is second with 14 pipes, and Denmark takes the bronze medal with 11. The former can count within its ranks the presence of Ashton, legions of vintage Dunhills, GBD, vintage Comoy's and Lane-era Charatans. The latter boasts a 2009, unsmoked S. Bang created by Per Hansen, pipes from Peter Heeschen, Poul Ilsted, Former and Celius. How about an unsmoked Bjarne Nielsen Signature, or a Viggo Nielsen Hand Shaped? The Danes have definitely come to play. If you are looking for a gourd calabash, or a terrific used meerschaum, you have come to the right place (but you knew you were in the right place, eh?), and the US has six pipes for us tonight, including work from Sam Learned, Tom Cooke, and a 1975 piece from Andrew Marks. Germany finishes out tonight's estate update with briars from the legendary Rainer Barbi and Karlo Heinz-Joura! Gents, if you don't see it in tonight's update, or in the estate inventory that was already on the site, chances are they don't make it. OK, that was a bit over the top. How about we just say, "There's a great chance that your next pipe is waiting?"

9 New Castello Pipes

9 New Castello Pipes
Tonight, we bring you new nine new offerings from Castello including the Sea Rock, "Castello", Old Antiquari, Natural Vergin and Trademark series. Oh, and yeah, a Collection Fiammata bent billiard that will make your hair stand on end. The one Old Antiquari in this batch sports one of the most impressive sandblasts I've ever seen on any pipe and just possibly the most amazing blast I've ever seen on a Castello: the regularity of the rings of grain is so close to perfectly regular that it seems almost impossible to have happened naturally; but, of course, it did. This batch of nine pipes isn't the biggest Castello update we've ever had (not by quite some margin), but it features some of the most impressive Castellos we've ever had on the site.

48 New Savinelli Pipes

48 New Savinelli Pipes
48 seems to be our lucky number when it comes to Savinelli updates, and we're not about to get away from lucky numbers during the month of March. Tonight's Savinelli updates includes just about every longstanding favorite we offer, including two Black & White Favorite churchwardens, several Baronet Bruyere EX offerings for those who prefer a big hunk of briar, some lovely Venezias, a mix of both rusticated and smooth Trevis, four Panamas, five of the very cool Pisas, a mix of smooth and rusticated Quandale churchwardens, as well as three smooth churchwardens and three rusticated churchwardens. And all that would be plenty, except we're also offering three Rossi Handmades in a rusticated finish and four Savinelli Dry Systems (three smooth and one rusticated). Yes, that all adds up to 48 new pipes, but more than that, it adds up to an update which is sure to strike the fancy of just about every pipe smoking demographic there is.

60 New Peterson Pipes

60 New Peterson Pipes
Ya know, sometimes you, our beloved customers, can make life a little difficult for us. And we mean that in the best possible way, because every time we upload a large quantity of Petersons to our site, an even larger quantity gets purchased! But obviously we're tickled that you continue to enjoy these offerings, and we're more than pleased to keep bringing them to you. Tonight, 60 new beauties hit our online showroom floor and we can't wait to see you make a dent in that number. In that 60, you will find 3 Kinsales, 16 System Standards (7 rusticated, 9 in the ebony finish), 17 Kapets and (what else would you expect in March) 24 beautiful St. Patrick's Day 2010s! Surely this festive time makes us think of luck and pots of gold (amongst other things), but with Peterson, you don't need either to be able to enjoy their pipes. Go ahead and peruse this section while we start getting another group ready for next week's update.

Featuring the classic light stain of the Virgin series, as well as the much heralded construction and finishing of the new Comoy's, tonight's update features three pots, four bent billiards, a duo of apples, and singular offerings of a billiard and a bent dublin. We are very much getting down to the end of what we have from the 750-odd Comoy's we started with in September, so if you've been eyeing one of these value-priced beauties, now is not the time to hesitate...

New Cigars

New Cigars
Cigars, cigars, our update has cigars! Tonight, we bring you a new offering from La Gloria Cubana, as well as two new offerings from Tatuaje and Alec Bradley. Fans of La Gloria Cubana know that the Serie R cigars are very full-bodied masterpieces and the Number 3 line is no different. Featuring an Equadoran wrapper, and a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos with a Nicaraguan binder, this cigar is available in box and non-box quantities, and definitely delivers the bold flavors you'd expect from this brand. Tatuaje comes in with both the Black and Verocu Label Tubos. With only some minor preliminary searching, one thing became very apparent, these cigars are in high demand. With a Nicaraguan wrapper, binder and filler, the Black is a full-bodied cigar. The Verocu, or Red, varies slightly in that it features a Corojo '99 wrapper. Both are being offered in box and non-box quantities. Our final cigar offerings, the Prensado Robusto and the Prensado Corona Gorda, come from Alec Bradley. The Prensado series was built around a new wrapper, the Corojo dos mil seis (Corojo 2006), which is a relatively new wrapper (first smoked in July 2008) grown in Trojes, Honduras. The binder is Nicaraguan while the filler is a mix of both Nicaraguan and Honduran. We're proud to offer both the Corona Gorda and Robusto sizes, in both box and non-box quantities. Okay, I'm wrapping this up because I am now dying for a cigar.
